Penicuik House and Policies are situated on the Western outskirts of the town of Penicuik, about 10 miles to the South of Edinburgh. The estate is situated on the Eastern edge of the Pentland Hills and includes the valley of the North Esk river.

The public entrance to the estate is located off the A766 at the Tympany Gates.

A new 30 space car park has been formed. Visitors are requested to make their way to the house by foot. Blue Badge holders can drive to the house where there is designated parking. The single track drive has three passing places to provide resting points for visitors with restricted mobility.

The tarmac drive from the Tympany gates joins a shared estate drive at Knights Law Bridge which leads to the house.
