Our Ranger Service & Activities
We’re delighted to have a Ranger Service on Penicuik Estate to help visitors of all ages and stages of fitness enjoy our beautiful countryside and learn about its wildlife and plantlife.
Part-funded by Scottish Natural Heritage, our Rangers encourage responsible access to the Estate, improve biodiversity, promote environmental issues and engage with schools and the local community by organising events, leading guided walks and coordinating volunteer activities.
The Estate is home to a great variety of wildlife including roe deer, badgers, otters, a wide range of birds including birds of prey and several species of bat. Our Rangers run a variety of projects to introduce visitors to our wild residents, including the Penicuik Estate Bat Project, John Muir Awards with local schools and the Dementia Friendly Walking Group.
Penicuik Estate is grateful to SNH for their support with establishing the Ranger Service.
